VirtualAirBoss to manage Grand Sky flight operations

By July 20, 2015 No Comments

Grand Sky has selected the VirtualAirBoss™ to help manage its UAS flight operations. The browser-based software system developed by SmartC2 is designed to securely manage complex aviation business operations, meeting the safety and reporting goals for Grand Sky as well as the ability to integrate with NASA’s Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) system.

“We are establishing a new home base for small, medium and large unmanned aircraft in the U.S., and now that we’ve started construction on the UAS Park, we wanted to start flying right away to document the work in progress,” said Thomas Swoyer, Jr., President of Grand Sky Development Company. “SmartC2 will help us get up and running on the VirtualAirBoss in 24 hours. Amazing. They make something complicated, so easy.”

Stuart Rudolph, President and CEO of SmartC2, invented the VirtualAirBoss to be flexible, agile, and easy to use. “Users want a solution that is intuitive, but gets a complicated job done right. In a single VirtualAirBoss site, you can handle many different aircraft –manned, unmanned, small, large, optionally piloted. We believe that capturing the information you’ll need later for compliance reports and reimbursements should derive organically from your workflow,” says Rudolph. “We configured VAB to guide the user through the process so the next step is intuitively obvious.”

SmartC2 designed the browser-based VirtualAirBoss software system to securely manage complex aviation business operations, such as those adjacent to an Air Force base as is Grand Sky. And with safety as a prime concern of both the Air Force and Grand Sky, the ability of all users to instantly access safety plans makes VirtualAirBoss a welcome partner in achieving Grand Sky’s goals for airfield safety. VirtualAirBoss is integrated with NASA’s Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) system, and Grand Sky has agreed to participate in the UTM beta testing. That means that multiple, simultaneous flights from Grand Sky’s airfield will provide flight data to help NASA further develop its UTM system to manage UAS for the nation.

“SmartC2 totally understands the complex challenges we face at Grand Sky, and they simplify it,” says Swoyer. “With VAB we have detailed accountability, and we can easily create whatever reports we need. They have automated many tedious administrative tasks like COA reporting. This is a fantastic tool for us to provide to our tenants. It’s easy to use and VirtualAirBoss delivers the information we need to run a smooth operation.”
