More than three thousand jobs are on their way to the Grand Forks. Today kicked off an unmanned aircraft systems project considered the first of its kind in the nation.

Officials signed a fifty year lease so they can get started on Grand Sky, a UAS business and technology park, where UAS technology will be developed for military and commercial use. Leaders tell us they plan to break ground on the 217 acres this spring and plan to have Grand Sky functioning by 2016. They say UAS technology is vital to keeping the nation a leader in global aviation research.

Over the duration of the lease an estimated 40 to 74 million dollars in revenue is expected for the base.
